Within the Storm

I raised my eyes to a forbidding sky

To see the darkness cast its gaze in turn

While the winds howled, I felt all courage die

As the chill of rain seeped where hope did burn

I heard a faint cry from the path ahead

Within the endless walls of rain, she lay

A little girl was deeply filled with dread

Who begged of me to wish it all away

I raised up to God a deafening call

Yet a subtle whisper answered within

I turned to the girl and let the rain fall

 There, I felt courage return and hope begin

 For only great Heaven could end her cries

So I let Heaven show within my eyes
